Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital are actively taking part in various social contribution activities with their own unique style.

Hyundai Card has been highly praised for its “Gapado Project” and medical support activities for vulnerable patients working together with the Catholic University of Korea Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital.

Hyundai Card launched the “Gapado Project” in 2012 along with the Jeju provincial government to revive the Gapa Island as an island where nature, economy and culture coexist.

Hyundai Card developed the agriculture and fishery industry in a new form based on natural ecosystem recovery to establish a cultural and artistic space and to attract more residents and travelers.

Thanks to such efforts, Domus, the world’s leading architectural and design magazine, showed high interest in the transformation of Gapa Island as well as in Korea and published its first special issue on the domestic project ever since its foundation.

The special issue indicated how interested Domus was in the “Gapado Project.”

The “Gapado Project” has receiving a lot of attention as a new global success model for regional regeneration. This year, it won the Regional Branding award in the communication area at the iF Design Award, one of the world’s top three design awards.

The confidential sponsorship by Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital along with Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital is also drawing attention.

The corporations have been running a special donation campaign at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital to support those who are in need.

Starting with a developmental fund donation for the medical facilities and equipment of Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital in 2016, Hyundai has contributed to the medical support of vulnerable patients and social support for the underprivileged.

In 2018, Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital donated 100 million won ($83,670) to support a total of 91 patients and 100 families.

They also provided medical expenses to migrant women and newborn babies from 30 multicultural families and 45 socially vulnerable patients.

To help the stable settlement of North Korean refugees, the corporations provided regular health checkup services and held a special kimchi-making event to collect funds.

Other social contribution activities that Hyundai Card and Hyundai Capital have been conducting so far are also gaining prominence.

The company recreated the Seoul Bus Station Transit center by adding art onto 12 types of high-tech facilities in 2009 and designed Jeju Island Bus Station to reflect the unique sentiment of Jeju Island.

It also ran traditional market revitalization projects at Bongpyeong Market in Gangwon and Songjeong Station Market in Gwangju to help traditional markets keep their unique ambience and color by combining the identity of the traditional markets with the characterand history of local merchants.
